THE WRAP LEARNING COMMUNITY

The Wealth Reclamation Academy of Practitioners is a community of practice organized by and for Resource Mobilizers and social justice fundraisers. As Resource Mobilizers, we are the individuals in our communities who specialize in cultivating relationship networks and stewarding the flow of assets (social and material) back into social justice movement and community-building.

We are actively organizing to define the emerging field of wealth reclamation and related practices for resourcing our communities that are in better alignment with an intersectional vision for economic justice and equity than today’s practices of nonprofit fundraising. We bring our collective talents, skills, values, and inspirations together to practice wealth reclamation for social justice and institutional change.

Ultimately, WRAP seeks to transform the traditional spaces and practices of capitalistic philanthropy to better represent just transition principles, until institutionalized philanthropy is irrelevant and unnecessary in the solidarity economy of our near future.

"Thank You, WRAP, from CPC! We raised $27,000 in 6 weeks."

Hi, I’m Veronica, a WRAP Organizer...

I was born in Los Angeles and raised on the U.S./Mexico border in El Paso, Texas. I have over 20 years of experience working with social justice nonprofit organizations and community groups on issues including health care disparities, anti-violence initiatives, LGBTQ equity, anti-racism, reproductive justice, food security, economic justice, and migrant rights.

I'm deeply committed to using the power of fundraising as a movement-building strategy. I learned, internalized, and helped nurture a movement network around this powerful value as a graduate of the Grassroots Institute for Fundraising Training’s (GIFT) Internship Program more than 10 years ago. Since then, my Resource Mobilizer friends and I have supported hundreds of community initiatives and thousands of social justice organizers across the country in building their grassroots fundraising capacity.

I'm helping to organize WRAP's base, to recontextualize how social justice organizers think about and practice movement resourcing in the U.S.
